Mathura, March 17, 2016: Nayati multi super specialty hospital, Mathura today celebrated World Hypertension Day. The objective of this unique initiative is to create awareness and engage with the community to educate them on early detection and prevention of hypertension. More than 15 patients with cardiac problems who have been healed at Nayati Centre of Cardiac Centre came together to share their heroic stories of survival and to support the awareness initiative. Hypertension is one of the major causes of disability and death all over the world which causes heart attacks, stroke-paralysis, kidney failures and other disorders, if ignored and untreated.
Dr. Venugopal Ram Rao, Chairman Cardiac Sciences & HOD Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery stated, “High blood pressure also known as Hypertension, is a life-threatening condition where blood pressure exceeds the normal range and affects millions of Indians. It is estimated that hypertension is responsible for approximately 1.1 million deaths annually, accounting for nearly 11% of all deaths in India. More awareness is needed to ensure people who suffer from this condition are accurately diagnosed and know about available treatment options. In many cases, there are no symptoms until it causes complications such as heart attack and stroke. So, it is important to realize that you may have high blood pressure and the only way to find out is to get your blood pressure checked at regular intervals. India is on the brink of a cardiovascular disaster and needs urgent measures to control Blood Pressure levels.”
