DEPARTMENT OF INTERNAL MEDICINEThe Department of Internal Medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases and thus forms the backbone of our hospitals. Doctors of Internal Medicine treat the whole person, keeping various aspects of health in mind while creating treatment plans. They are primary care physicians who often lead multi-disciplinary teams while working closely with all specialities.

Immunisations are not just for children. Adults must also be immunised to ensure that they do not contract or spread diseases that can be prevented with vaccines. The Internal Medicine department offers vaccines for everyone above 18 years of age.

Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy
These are procedures used to collect a sample of bone marrow, the soft and spongy tissue present inside bones. This is done to identify conditions like anaemia and cancer of the bone marrow.

Doctors place a catheter into the peripheral vein to get venous access for purposes like blood sampling or to administer intravenous fluids or medicines.
A procedure where a tube is inserted through the chest wall to allow for accumulated fluid, blood, air or pus to be drained out from the chest.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Doctors of Internal Medicine are an integral part of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support Team - an advanced protocol or clinical intervention team at Nayati to deal with life-threatening events such as strokes, heart attacks or cardiac arrest.
Our doctors do a risk-assessment, give pre-travel medical advice to avoid health concerns for travellers with chronic disorders and modify medicine timings when travel involves changes in time-zone.
The Internal Medicine department is in charge of all preventive health check-up programmes at Nayati and works closely with other departments of the hospital.
